Nick Faldo calls in Huxley Golf to build his own All-Weather Practice ground at home.

Even after his six Major Championship wins, forty three tournament victories worldwide and a record eleven Ryder Cup appearances, Nick Faldo's dedication and will to win are as strong as ever. "I still think I can win more tournaments and maybe another Major," Nick exclaimed. "I feel I've been playing pretty well, but my new Huxley all-weather practice area at home will help me a lot, because I can now work on my putting, short game and iron shots whenever I want, all year round."

Nick called in Huxley Golf to construct a specially designed practice tee and putting green at his Berkshire home, after he had visited the Hampshire firm's headquarters and demonstration ground last year. He tried out all the different Huxley all-weather greens and tees and said he was really impressed, especially as it had snowed that morning and the surrounding ground was still frozen hard. "Because of the British weather, it's impossible to provide good natural grass surfaces all year round in this country," explained Nick. "The Huxley Golf all-weather surfaces solve the problem. I like the Huxley green and tee surfaces and will be looking to use these in some of the Faldo Design projects." Faldo Design is Nick's fast-expanding golf course design and construction company which has projects worldwide.

A major benefit for Nick is that he now has his own Huxley all-weather practice tee and green only yards from his front door. "I'm away from home such a lot that when I'm back I want to spend the maximum time with my family," Nick explained. "It's great being able to step outside and work on my game at home whenever I want, on excellent surfaces which are virtually maintenance-free." Nick wanted very little break on his Huxley putting green,

which has a nylon crush-resistant surface. "The Huxley green has a true and consistent ball roll, and I can increase the speed if I want to," said Nick. "It's great for working on the mechanics and pace of my putting stroke, so that I can then concentrate fully on reading the greens when I'm on the golf course."

Nick wanted his Huxley practice tee immediately alongside the green, so he can easily vary his practice routine. He plays a full range of short, medium and long iron shots between trees and over two attractive duck ponds to different targets stretching right to the end of his garden up to two hundred and fifty yards away. Arguably the greatest shot-maker since Ben Hogan, Nick enjoys "working the ball" from the premier quality Huxley nylon tee turf. "It's a confidence-boosting surface which all golfers would enjoy playing off, and you don't have any divots or maintenance to worry about," said Nick.

Are Huxley all-weather greens and tees only suitable for all year round practice by top Tour players? "Not at all", Nick Faldo explained. "Amateurs could cut six strokes off their handicap by practising on a Huxley green for half an hour a day. Not only that, but it would be great to build a par three golf course using Huxley all-weather greens and tees. I can think of several applications in the UK and overseas where this would be successful. In colder climates like those in Eastern Europe for example, Huxley all-weather tees and greens could extend the playing season by several months."

It will be no surprise to see Nick Faldo adding another Major to his three Open Championship and three U S Masters victories. He is certainly as fit and dedicated as ever and, even while at home, continues to fine-tune his game on his Huxley all-weather practice ground.
